Preservation or Use? Bowes Centre Commission
Preservation or Use?
How can museums offer more opportunities for people to engage with their collections? The debate around whether their collections should be in active use is current.
The Bowes Centre have commissioned 10 artists and given them full access to their collections to have a creative response within their own contemporary practice. Kit Haigh has used the opportunity as one of the artists to sample the instruments in the music room.
Here is a little film clip of Kit playing one of the harpsichords.
"I was only supposed to be sampling single notes but couldn’t resist a little play on this 1780s Jacob & Abraham Kirckman harpsichord."
He will be presenting his findings later in the year within The Bowes Museum.
