COLLISION & CONFLICT
PROJECT OUTLINE
Collision & Conflict will be a geolocated sound walk through the Northumberland Cumbria landscape. The walk will travel along Hadrian’s Wall National Trail taking Thirlwall Castle, Green Croft On The Wall, the pronounced ditch at Gilsland, preserved milecastle at Poltross Burn, 914m stretch of wall at Willowford and to roman bridge remains beside the River Irthing leading to Birdoswald Roman Fort.
Often called the Borderlands or Forgotten Lands, the area is wild, bleak, beautiful, and unforgiving. Conflict over boundaries have dominated the history of the area, leaving scars present on the landscape. Thirlwall Castle is where the barbarians ‘thirled’, or threw down part of the wall, during a raid in Roman times. Romans were replaced with Reivers, with Gilsland at the centre of conflict and raids between Reiver families. Conflict continues in contemporary rural Britain with contested views on what land should be used for; production, consumption, preservation, diversification.

Yoga & Gong Bathing Day Retreats
Yoga Walking Meditation Gong Bathing
WHAT'S INCLUDED
You will enjoy a full day of relaxation including two yoga sessions, a gong sound bath, a guided meditation and, if the weather allows it, a mindful walk along one of the many trails from the door. You will get drinks and a nourishing healthy lunch. We will be practising Hatha yoga and all abilities including total beginners will be made to feel welcome.
On arrival you will get settled onto your mat, relax, meet like-minded people, and perhaps have a healthy drink. The morning class will be an immersion into yoga which will allow you to de-stress completely and relax into the day.
After a break and some health benefiting refreshments, you can take a self guided or group walk and undertake a mindfulness practice whilst stretching your legs. In the afternoon, we will meet for restorative yoga and a gong sound bath meditation to leave you feeling dreamy.
We are running 3 Yoga and Gong Bathing Retreats this season each with a slightly different focus to help you rest, refocus and rebalance.
In line with current government guidelines (18th June 2021) we are limiting bookings to 6 spaces. If all spaces are filled then we will have a waiting list and as restrictions ease we can allocate spaces according to government guidelines on that day. If a full lockdown is called then you will have the option for a rebooking when allowed.
