Step into a world of stories, myths, and magic along Hadrian’s Wall.
This September, the Hadrian’s Wall Art Trail – FOLK will transform three unique venues into vibrant showcases of contemporary art inspired by the folklore, legends, and landscapes of West Northumberland and East Cumbria. From Roman myths and Border Reiver tales to botanical folklore and imagined folk creatures, each work responds in its own way to the stories rooted in this landscape.
Over 3 weekends in September, 25 artists from across the North East and Cumbria will be presenting painting, textile, print, photography, and mixed-media works.
The Threshing Barn, Field Shelter, and Abbey Mill are three unique, multi-use spaces with their own stories to tell. Works have been selected for each space to create three distinct exhibitions, responding to the character of historic farm and industrial buildings, and reflecting the stories of the landscape with a diverse visual language.
Follow the trail across and discover how today’s artists bring old stories to life in new ways.
