About the Event

Community Dance Project – FREE Opportunity for Women & Girls (14–100yrs+)

Are you curious about contemporary dance but feel you’ve never had the opportunity, experience or access? This FREE community dance project invites women and girls (14–100yrs+) to take part in an inspiring, intergenerational dance experience led by professional artists.

The project is part of Ceyda Tanc Dance Company’s 'Kizlar' tour for Highlights Rural Touring and is funded by Rural Touring Dance Initiative (RTDI). The project is open to anyone – no previous dance experience required.

About the Project

Participants will work together to create a short curtain raiser performance, inspired by KIZLAR – a powerful contemporary dance work exploring femininity, masculinity, strength and vulnerability.

Ceyda Tanc Dance Company is led by British-Turkish choreographer Ceyda Tanc, whose work blends contemporary dance with traditional Turkish folk influences and themes of ritual, ceremony and community. Her work is bold, feminist and celebratory.
