About the Event

Immerse yourself in a deeply relaxing Sound Bath at Housesteads Roman Fort Activity Centre as part of the Sensing the Fort activity day.

This 45-minute session offers a chance to slow down, switch off and experience the historic landscape in a new, sensory way. It is part of a wider project exploring how visitors can connect more deeply with the fort, its surroundings and nature.

Sensing the Fort runs from 11:00am – 3:00pm and is suitable for families. The Sound Bath is a separate, quieter session taking place after the daytime activities. To find out more information from the English Heritage site about Sensing The Fort click HERE

What is a Sound Bath?

A Sound Bath is a deeply immersive experience where you rest comfortably while the sounds and vibrations of instruments such as crystal and Himalayan singing bowls, gongs and chimes wash over you.

These resonant tones can help calm the nervous system, ease tension and guide the mind into a deeply relaxed, meditative state — leaving you feeling rested and restored.

What to Expect

Led by sound practitioner Amanda Drago, this gentle, held session invites you to fully switch off and rest. You’ll be guided into relaxation with a short meditation, before being immersed in the soothing sounds of Crystal and Himalayan bowls and other instruments. The session closes with a few quiet moments of stillness, allowing everything to settle before you gently return.

  • Guided meditation (approx. 10 minutes)

  • Immersive sound journey (approx. 30 minutes)

  • Restful stillness before returning (approx. 5 minutes)

You’ll be comfortably supported on a flotation bed, with a pillow, blanket and eye mask provided — everything you need to feel held and at ease.
