About the Event

Discover the magic of one of the oldest photographic processes in this beginner-friendly Cyanotype Workshop. Cyanotype, also known as "blueprint," produces stunning blue-toned prints through the power of sunlight and simple chemistry. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to create your own unique photographic images using sunlight, natural materials, and a special light-sensitive solution. No prior experience is needed as this is an introduction into the printing process.

Amanda Drago will guide you through the basics of the cyanotype process, from preparing the chemical solution to exposing your prints under the sun. The workshop will be at The Sill, National Landscape Discovery Centre and you will take a walk into the immediate landscape to collect flora from which you will create the composition of your print. You will also be able to use some pre-prepared negative photographs printed on acetate brought by Amanda which can be used to create layered compositions.

What to bring

  • An apron/old shirt and rubber gloves if your hands are sensitive. The process uses chemicals.

  • Something to help you transport your prints back home in a flat position.

  • Suitable coat and shoes for taking a walk to collect flora in the landscape.

Adults: £35.00
