About the Event

Flora Linocut Printing with Lydia Brockless

Saturday 3rd August 10.00am - 12.30pm

Time: 2.5 hour workshop

Cost: £45.00 including tea, coffee, homemade cakes of biscuits.

Materials & P&P: There will be an additional charge of £13.00 for tools & materials payable to Lydia on the day. If you choose to do both workshops then there will be a charge of £23.00 for materials for both workshops.

Experience: This is a beginners workshop

Group size: The workshop runs with between 8 - 10 participants per session.

Lydia is leading 2 sessions;  Flora Linocut Printing 10.00am - 12.30pm and  Landscape Linocut Printing 2.00 - 4.30pm in the afternoon. If both are booked then a homecooked lunch will be provided and you are welcome to relax in the garden or take the opportunity to take a stroll along Hadrian's Wall from the door over the lunch break.

Participants will be introduced to the technique of linocut, with full demonstrations of all steps. They will apply their design to a block, learn safe cutting technique, and finally ink the block and print their design. They will make a small test block to practise, then cut their chosen design into an A6 piece of lino. The theme for their designs will loosely be based around local flora, and there will be references and imagery provided, as well as help with planning the design. Participants will take home their lino block to use again at home, as well as any materials purchased.
