Kurinuki - Sculpting with Clay led by Annabel Talbot 

Saturday 6th July 

Morning Session - 10.00am - 12.30pm 

Afternoon Session - 2.00pm - 4.30pm 

Time: 2.5 hour workshop

Cost: £45.00 including tea, coffee, homemade cakes of biscuits. 

Materials & P&P: There will be an additional charge of £10 for materials which includes firing and glazing payable to Annabel on the day. If you would like you item posted to you after firing then please bring additinal £7 for postage charge or £10 for large item. Items can also be picked up from Green Croft On The Wall if living locally for no charge. 

Experience: Open to all levels of experience.

Group size: The workshop runs with between 10 -12 participants per session. 

Join Annabel and delve into the art of Japanese pottery technique, Kurinuki suitable for all levels of experience. The workshop will be an introduction into Kurinuki a traditional method from Japan using a subtractive process. Whittling and slicing a slab of clay to obtain a small unique form using slow and thoughtful sculpting cuts. This approach allows for the creation of various forms such as sculptures, vases, tea bowls, and boxes. Throughout the session, attendees will have the opportunity to work hands-on with clay and organic materials, fostering experimentation and creativity. By exploring this technique, participants will gain insights into sculpting and shaping clay in unique ways, unlocking their artistic potential. Ultimately, they will depart the workshop with newfound skills, a deeper understanding of pottery, and their own handcrafted masterpiece to cherish.

Annabel Talbot is an artist who exhibits in galleries and online. She conducts workshops across the northeast, sharing her skills in ceramics with others. In her workshops, Annabel guides participants in crafting objects with textures, such as sculptures, vases, and tiles, each with the creator’s individuality and personal value.

What do you need to bring 

  • £10.00 for the cost of materials which includes glazes and firing. Either £7.00 or £10.00 package and post fees. Both payable to Annabel. 

  • Participants are encouraged to bring along any textures they wish to press into their clay creations, such as fabric, bark, or other organic materials. These personal touches will enhance the individuality and texture of their final pieces, adding depth and character to their creations.

  • Wear an apron or an old shirt to cover and protect clothes.
