About the Event

Swedish Basket Making with Ruth Thompson

Saturday 7th September 10.00am - 4.00pm 

Time: 5 hour workshop

Cost: £90.00 including homemade lunch tea, coffee, cakes or biscuits. 

Materials & P&P: There will be an additional charge of £12 for materials which is payable to Ruth on the day. 

Experience: All of these workshops are suitable for beginners, but intermediate students would also enjoy them. 

Group size: The workshop runs with between 8 - 10 participants per session. 

Swedish baskets on a wooden base

Join Ruth in making a Swedish basket with a wodden base. During this workshop you will learn how to handle willow, weave a three rod and four rod wale, English or French randing, and making a track border.

Ruth is based at Mickley Northumberland, with extensive experience of working with communities and groups across the North East. She teaches basketry, willow art workshops, and heritage coppice crafts; and undertakes commissions for hurdles, sculptures, living willow structures, baskets, obelisks etc . As an experienced mentor she teaches trainees and volunteers.
