About the Event

Collision & Conflict is a geolocated sound walk along Hadrian's Wall National Trail. In 2021 Green Croft Arts commissioned 14 artists who had strong links to Northumberland, Cumbria and nationalities that reflected the past diversity of the communities that built, manned and lived along Hadrian’s Wall. The 9 commissions are creative responses in song, music, sound, story, spoken word and prose which explore the historical, archeological and environmental conflicts and issues that affect contemporary rural communities today. To celebrate HW1900 Festival and international festival Sound Walk September Collision & Conflict is returning.

Using ECHOES: an interactive GPS-triggered sound app on your mobile phone,  the circular sound walk along takes you through the landscape where you can listen to the artistic responses connected to specific locations on the route enjoyed through your headphones. You will be led by either by Creative Producer, Amanda Drago or Sound Artist, Kit Haigh who will offer insights into the artists, the making of the works and the chosen position in the landscape.

There are numerous stopping points along the way to enjoy the landscape. We will take a longer break at Green Croft for lunch and hot drinks and scones and cake will be available to purchase.
